With the rise of cosmetic breast surgery, many women are asking "can I still breastfeed after surgery?"

There is no definite answer, but most women with implants experience no breastfeeding problems. It does, however, depend on the surgical technique used. Incisions made under the fold of the breast or the armpit shouldn't cause any problems when it comes to breastfeeding. Incisions made around the areola, on the other hand, increase your risk of having breastfeeding problems.

General advice is “have a go and see what happens”. If you do experience problems, you will need to supplement with formula. You should also keep your doctor informed about any breast surgery you have had or if you are planning to have surgery.
